Monterey Mushrooms, Inc. was established in 1971 as a
family- owned and operated farm in Royal Oaks, California. Today,
Monterey is
vertically integrated and
able to control all
aspects of mushroom production from seed to customer/consumer. An international, multi-facility company, with 10 mushroom
growing farms strategically located throughout North America -
Monterey's mushrooms are literally "locally grown" nationwide. This
means that Monterey is uniquely positioned to deliver the
best, most innovative mushroom products possible to consumers
throughout the country.
Monterey is the country’s largest and only national marketer of
fresh mushrooms, supplying unique, innovative and high quality
products for sale to supermarkets, foodservice and ingredient
manufacture operations, and for preparation of processed, canned,
and frozen mushroom products. Headquartered in Watsonville,
California, Monterey has production, sales and administrative offices,
internationally.

The Process Group is a leading manufacturer of foodservice/ingredient canned
stems and pieces, jarred marinated for club stores and continues to develop
its canned and frozen specialty business for the foodservice and retail-deli
trades.
Monterey's International Group includes fresh growing facilities and a
retail processing operation that offers canned and jarred mushroom products
packed under the Monterey or private label brands.
Monterey’s wholly-owned affiliate, Champinones San Miguel, operates
the single largest mushroom growing operation in Mexico and one of
the largest in North America. Champinones San Miguel is one of the
largest suppliers of fresh mushrooms to the Mexican market as well
as a supplier of canned mushrooms in North America and Central
America.
Monterey’s BioTechnical Group includes the Amycel & Spawn Mate companies
which produce and sell mushroom spawn and nutritional growing supplements &
activators to mushroom growers of worldwide. Amycel is a major supplier of
spawn. Spawn Mate pioneered the supplement business. Amycel and Spawn Mate
are the principal marketers of specialized mushroom growing
supplements and spawn in the North American industry and their products
are also marketed throughout the world. Monterey’s success in consistently producing high quality fresh
mushrooms is the foundation of the company’s successful processed mushroom
products.
