Monterey Mushrooms, Inc. was initially established in 1971 as a
single farm operation in Royal Oaks, California. Today, this
multi-site business is headquartered in Watsonville, California, and
has production, sales and administrative offices, internationally.
Monterey is the country’s largest and only national marketer of
fresh mushrooms, supplying products for sale to supermarkets,
foodservice and ingredient manufacture operations, and for
preparation of processed, canned, and frozen mushroom products. |

The Process Group is a leading manufacturer of foodservice/ingredient canned
stems and pieces, jarred marinated for club stores and continues to develop
its canned and frozen specialty business for the foodservice and retail-deli
trades.
Monterey's International Group includes fresh growing facilities and a
retail processing operation that offers canned and jarred mushroom products
packed under the Monterey or private label brands.
Monterey’s BioTechnical Group includes the Amycel & Spawn Mate companies
which produce and sell mushroom spawn and nutritional growing supplements &
activators to mushroom growers of worldwide. Amycel is a major supplier of
spawn. Spawn Mate pioneered the supplement business and is the principal
marketer of specialized mushroom growing supplements to the North American
industry. Amycel and Spawn Mate products are also marketed throughout
Europe. Monterey’s success in consistently producing high quality fresh
mushrooms is the foundation of the company’s successful processed mushroom
products.
