Why do you package your mushrooms in plastic?

We like the idea of using recycled materials that can be recycled again. It also helps with the shelf life.

We have switched to rPET containers.  rPET stands for recycled polyethylene terephthalate and comes from plastic that has already been used for packaging, such as plastic bottles. This plastic is sorted, cleaned and transformed so that it can be reused as a food product, as approved by the FDA. The material is 100% recyclable.   Essentially, we are using recycled materials that can then again be recycled.

We want to assure you we've done extensive shelf-life testing and the quality of the mushrooms is not hindered in the rPET plastic. In fact, we saw a better appearance to the overall package due to the over-wrap film being able to wrap tighter with the container retaining its shape and not absorbing moisture in high humidity conditions.
